PLAYOFF TICKET SITUATION EXPLAINED
The ticket policy for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball quarterfinal game to be hosted by UW-Eau Claire Monday was announced today by Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon. The game will be played at 7 p.m. in the W. L. Zorn Arena. Since the playoff game is a conference event, all patrons, including students, will need to purchase a ticket, explained Kilgallon. General admission prices are $6 for adults, faculty and staff, $4 for senior citizens and $2 for students through college level. Kilgallon said that his staff will attempt to accommodate women’s basketball and All Sports season pass holders by allowing them to sit in their regular season reserved seats if they purchase a general admission ticket and show their season pass when they arrive at Zorn. While the Blugolds are guaranteed to host a game Monday, the opponent may not be determined until after Saturday’s final regular season conference games are completed. The Blugolds are playing at UW-Superior tonight and will conclude their schedule at UW-Whitewater Saturday. Coach Tonja Englund’s squad is currently tied with UW-Whitewater for second place in the league, two games ahead of fourth-place UW-Stevens Point. The quarterfinal pairings will have the No. 8 seed at the No. 1 seed, No. 7 at No. 2, No. 6 at No. 3 and No. 5 at No. 4. All those games will be played Monday. The semifinal games will be played Wednesday, February 21 with the league championship scheduled for Saturday, February 24. The WIAC tournament champion will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III 63-team national tournament. - TP -
