SPAETH, CHANNING EARN ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS

EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire women's basketball forward/center Becca Spaeth (Jr.-Chippewa Falls/Chi-Hi) and forward Kristi Channing (Sr.-Fall Creek) were named to the Verizon Academic All-District V Women's Basketball College Division Teams.

A Second Team selection, Spaeth is a Biology Education major carrying a 3.90 grade-point average. Spaeth leads the Blugolds in field goal percentage (.549) and blocked shots (26) while ranking second in scoring (12.7/game) and rebounds (6.5/game) in addition to ranking third in minutes played (26.7/game).

Named to the third team, Channing is a Psychology major carrying a 3.43 grade-point average. Channing leads the team in scoring (15.5/game), free throw percentage (.806) and minutes played (29.9/game) while ranking third in field goal percentage (.539), rebounds (6.1/game) and steals (31).

The Blugolds just completed regular season play with a 24-1 mark going 16-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They are the first team to go 16-0 in conference play since the Blugolds accomplished the same feet in 1999-00. The Blugolds will be the number one seed in the WIAC Women's Basketball Post-Season Tournament beginning this coming Monday.
