SOPPELAND EARNS WIAC HONORS AGAIN
MADISON - For the second time this season, UW-Eau Claire guard Janel Soppeland (Sr.-Cadott) was named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by conference sports information director Matt Stanek.
Soppeland played a big role in a UW-Eau Claire road victory over UW-Oshkosh on January 15 that helped the Blugolds stay perfect in WIAC play with a 7-0 record. She poured in a game-high 20 points on seven-for-10 shooting from the field, including four-for-seven from three-point range and dished out six assists, grabbed five rebounds and recorded one blocked shot and one steal. Soppeland also hit both of her free throw attempts in the only game for the Blugolds during the week.
