McKINNEY NAMED WIAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK AGAIN
MADISON - For the second time this season, UW-Eau Claire softball pitcher Mallory McKinney (Jr.-Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park) was named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Pitcher of the Week, it was announced today by conference sports information director Matt Stanek. McKinney went 3-0 on the weekend as the Blugolds opened conference play with sweeps at UW-La Crosse and UW-Platteville. In game one at UW-La Crosse, McKinney pitched seven scoreless innings allowing two hits and striking out nine against no walks in a 3-0 victory. The next day at UW-Platteville McKinney allowed one lone hit striking out four with no walks in a 10-0 win in six innings. McKinney was not done for the day as she came in to pitch the final 3.1 innings of game two allowing two hits while striking out two and walking none to preserve a 15-6 Blugold win. Over the weekend, McKinney pitched 16.1 scoreless innings allowing just five hits while striking out 15 and not walking a single batter in three games. McKinney has now pitched 53.1 scoreless innings, including seven shutouts during that stretch. During the streak McKinney has allowed 20 hits striking 63 batters against just one walk.
