WESTBROCK NAMED TO D3KICKS.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK

UW-Eau Claire soccer defender Becky Westbrock (Sr.-Oakdale, MN/North St. Paul) has been named to the D3Kicks.com Team if the Week, it was announced today by the web site.

Westbrock was also named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day.

Westbrock held the WIAC’s leading goal scorer to one shot as the Blugolds defeated UW-River Falls 3-0 and claimed its second consecutive conference championship outright. With the win the Blugolds went undefeated in conference play with a perfect 8-0 record holding their opponents to just four goals scored in those matches. The following day against St. Thomas (MN) Westbrock scored the game-winning goal, the first goal of her career, and assisted on another goal as the Blugolds defeated the Tommies 3-0. The shutout victory was the 12th of the season for the Blugolds lowering its goals against average to .42 while holding opponents to an average of 5.2 shots per game. The win against St. Thomas also tied the school record for wins in a season with 17.
