SOCCER SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF SEASON
EAU CLAIRE – The UW-Eau Claire soccer team has only given up three goals in 1,009:18 but an early score was enough today as the team fell to St. Olaf (MN) at Bollinger Fields by a 1-0 final. St. Olaf went on top quick, before the game had even seen its second minute of play. At 1:37 and off a corner kick, Amy Odland took the assist from Christina Mills to make for the final score before the contest had barely begun. The Blugolds outshot the Oles 16-4 with eight shots per half. Liz Weirick (Jr.-Kenosha/Tremper) and Allie Rivard (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) only saw three shots while their counterpart made six saves. The last time Eau Claire lost a regular season game was October 23rd of last year at St. Scholastica and the last time the Blugolds lost at home was October 16th of 2004 against UW-Stevens Point. Eau Claire, ranked fifth nationally in the NSCAA/Adidas poll and 15th in the D3Kicks.com poll, is 10-1-0 while the Oles rise to 6-3-1. The team looks to rebound against UW-Superior this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in Superior. Eau Claire-St. Olaf Box Score - PH -
