JOHNSON NAMED FIRST TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire men’s track and field member Sam Johnson (Jr.-Deer Park, Wis./Amery) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 5 Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country First Team College Division, officials announced today.

Johnson, who is majoring in Physics and currently holds a 3.93 cumulative GPA, finished in sixth place at NCAA Division III Indoor Championship in the weight throw with a distance of 59-4 ¾ this season. He had the longest throw in conference and fifth longest in NCAA Division III with distance of 59-8 ¼ heading into the national meet. Johnson was also named conference athlete of the week once during the indoor season.

Johnson is now eligible for CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American honors. To be eligible for selection to the All-America team, a student-athlete must receive first team All-District honors.
