SWIMMING AND DIVING LOSE IN FIRST DUAL MEET

MANKATO, MN - Both the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped the first dual meet of the season to MSU-Mankato today.

The men's swimming and diving teams lost by a 145-90 margin while the women's teams also fell 148.5-91.5.

The men took care of business on the boards, but did not post any top places in the pool. In the one-meter event, Kenny Ritt (Fr.-Racine/Horlick) totaled 224.90 points, good for first. Donnie Vollmer (So.-Superior) then won the three-meter event at 225.40.

Emily Diehl (Jr.-Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie) was the team’s only multiple winner. Diehl took the top spot in the 200-yard IM at 2:20.64 and then went on to post a 1:11.42 100-yard breaststroke. Jaclyn Blank (Fr.-Byron, MN) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.14. Ann Grossklaus (Fr.-Wausau/West) swam the 100-yard freestyle in 56.53.

The first conference dual meet occurs next Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the McPhee Pool against UW-Stevens Point.
