MENSING NAMED NCHA AND WIAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

EAU CLAIRE – UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey goalie Ryan Mensing (So.-Langley, BC/Walnut Grove SS) was named both the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Player of the Week, it was announced by NCHA sports information director Layne Pitt and WIAC sports information director Matt Stanek.

Mensing stopped 42-of-44 shots from UW-River Falls, earning his first win of the season in a 3-2 upset win in the season opener for forth teams Friday. Eau Claire never trailed in the contest where they were outshot, 44-25 the evening by the Falcons. The two goals the Blugolds allowed both came off the Falcon power play. The Blugold win snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Falcons. The win was also the first for the Blugolds at Hunt Arena since a 2-1 victory on January 11, 1997.
