LOCKWOOD NAMED ALL-ACADEMIC FOR THIRD TIME
Senior Brooks Lockwood (Hudson) was one of four UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey players named to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic team, announced today by NCHA Sports Information Director Layne Pitt. Lockwood, a management major, earned the honor for a third time. Named for a second time was Blugold Jeremiah Weber (Jr.-Hayward) while Peter Bracker (So.-Albert Lea, MN) and Mike Schneider (So.-Owatonna, MN) represent UWEC for the first time. To be named to the team, a player must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better, have earned at least 50 semester credits and be recommended by his head coach. Lockwood and Schneider, a criminal justice major, are both centers while Weber, a kinesiology major, and Bracker, a nursing major, are both right wings. Lockwood was sidelined eight games this season with an injury. He and Schnieder have totaled four points while Weber has one assist and Bracker has not scored. The Blugolds are 9-12-4 for the season heading into this weekend’s NCHA quarterfinal series with St. Norbert. The Blugolds tied for sixth in the NCHA this year but have improved their overall record by seven games in the second season for head coach Luke Strand. NCHA Release - TP -
