MEN’S GOLF WINS TWIN CITIES CLASSIC

CHASKA, MN – On a day where no team shot better than a 323, the UW-Eau Claire men’s golf team fired a 327 to win the three-day Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus (MN) here today at the Hazeltine National.

The Blugolds concluded play with a 54-hole total of 914 followed by St. John’s (MN) in second place at 920. Gustavus Gold finished third with a 929 while Wartburg (IA) jumped from ninth to fourth place and St. Thomas (MN) moved from sixth to fifth place.

Rob Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham-Hall) took home top medalist honors firing a seven-over 223. Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) tied for 11th place with a score of 230. Derek Bauer (Jr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Eagan) tied for 14th with a 231 and Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedsburg) finished 19th competing individually with a 233. Mason Milner (Jr.-Onalaska) tied for 26th with a 236 and Ben Ziemann (Fr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) tied for 56th place shooting a 243.

The win concludes the fall season for the men’s golf team, who finished play with an overall record of 54-4-1 in four tournaments. The Blugolds won two of four tournaments and finished no lower than a tie for fourth place.
