MEN’S GOLF FIFTH AT TWIN CITIES CLASSIC

ELK RIVER, MN – The UW-Eau Claire men’s golf team finished fifth with an opening round score of 299 at the 18-team, three day Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College here today at Elk River Country Club.

Central College (IA) leads after day one with a 289 followed by Gustavus Gold at 295, St. John’s (MN) at 296, Nebraska Wesleyan at 298 with the Blugolds one stroke out of fourth place with a 299.

Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake), Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedsburg) and Rob Norris (St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham-Hall) are each tied for seventh place firing a one-over 73.

Mason Milner (Jr.-Onalaska) stands tied for 18th with a 75 followed by Derek Bauer (Jr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Eagan) who is tied for 51st with a 78.

The 54-hole Classic will continue tomorrow at the Links of Northfolk located in Ramsey, Minnesota and will conclude at Nazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota on Monday.
