MEN'S GOLF SITS IN FIFTH AFTER FIRST ROUND OF ST. JOHNS INVITE
SAUK CENTRE, MN - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team sits just four shots back of the lead in fifth place out of 14 teams after shooting a 314 in the first round of the St. John's Invitational at Greystone Golf Course today. For the first round, the teams competed at the Greystone Golf Course. It was a par 72 and was 7,059 yards in length. The University of St. Thomas is currently in the lead with a first round score of 310. Augsburg College and the University of St. Cloud are tied for second with a score of 311. Luther College is in fourth place with a score of 314. Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) had the top round for the Blugolds posting a first round score of 77 (+5). Greer is just three shots back of the leader Corey Grace of St. Cloud who shot a first round 74 (+2). The next highest Blugolds Derek Bauer and Rob Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) both shot a 78 (+6) in the first round. Ryan Brockhaus (Sr.-Mayville, WI) is the next highest with a first round score of 81 (+9). The last Blugold competing Cole Stark (Sr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) finished with a score 84 (+12). The St. John's Invitational continues tomorrow with final round action. The final round will be a shotgun at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course beginning at 9 a.m. First Round Results - JR -
