MEN’S GOLF FINISHES DAY ONE IN 21ST

CARMEL AND FISHERS, IN – The UW-Eau Claire men’s golf team finds itself in 21st place after the first day of the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The 14th-ranked Blugolds have shot a +31 score of 319 at the Prairie View Golf Club. There are 35 teams total.

Rhodes College (TN) leads with a 299 score while St. John’s (MN) is second at 300. Ohio Wesleyan University (OH) is third after a 302 day. Oglethorpe University (GA) is in fourth on a 303 score. Three other teams are tied for fifth at 305. Some teams golfed at Prairie View while others golfed at Hawthorns Golf and Country Club. Both courses are par-72s

The individual leader after day one is Rode McElreath of McMurry University (TX). He shot a 69 at Hawthorns. There are 180 golfers.

Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) is Eau Claire’s top golfer. He shot a 77 to tie for 41st. Ryan Brockhaus (Sr.-Mayville) and Rob Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) are right behind him with scores of 79, which tie for 70th. Greer had the only eagle, a three on a par-5.

Mason Milner (Jr.-Onalaska) is tied for 126th on an 84 and Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedsburg) is tied for 142nd on an 86 tally.
