SAAC FOOD DRIVE SET NEXT WEEK

The UW-Eau Claire Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will conduct its annual food drive next week.

All items collected will be donated to the Feed My People Food Bank in Eau Claire.

The drive is being done in conjuction with a state-wide effort by all athletes in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

In addition to putting food bags on doors in the residential area of Eau Claire’s south side, SAAC will also have collection bins in Davies Center, Hilltop Center and the McPhee Strength and Performance Center Tuesday through Saturday. Distribution of the food bags to residences will take place Monday and the bags will be collected from residential doorsteps around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

In west central Wisconsin alone, more than 10,000 individuals each month rely on food received from programs supplied by Feed My People Food Bank.

SAAC is an organization of representatives of the 20 varsity sports at UWEC. In addition to serving as a liaison between the athletes and the Director of Athletics, SAAC stages a number of community service activities in which the 550 Blugold student-athletes participate. Another major event will be the annual clean-up of the Water Street area in the spring.
