THREE ATHLETES TABBED FOR CONFERENCE HONORS

MADISON, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire volleyball player Katie Fox (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-Hi), diver Bryan Dykstra (Jr.-Racine, WI/Horlick) and swimmer Angie Bakula (Fr.-Appleton, WI/West) have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players of the week, conference spokesman Matt Stanek has announced.

The Blugold volleyball team won all three of its matches last week with a 3-2 victory over #10 St. Thomas on Tuesday, a 3-1 victory over UW-Platteville on Friday, and a 3-0 win over #14 UW-La Crosse on Saturday. In Tuesday and Friday’s wins, Fox led the Blugolds in kills and hitting percentage, and tied for best hitting percentage on Saturday. Against the Tommies, Fox had 15 kills and hit .379. On Friday against the Pioneers, Fox had a season high 18 kills and registered a .419 hitting percentage. On Saturday, Fox had her second best hitting percentage of the season with a .471 average, and accumulated 11 more kills. For the entire three matches, Fox also compiled 14 block assists and three solo blocks.

This weekend in the Blugold swimming and diving’s loss to Division II Minnesota State University-Mankato, Dykstra won both the one and three-meter diving events, making national cuts in the one-meter dive. Dykstra won the one-meter with a score of 285.30 and the three-meter dive scoring a 251.50.
