BLUGOLDS TAKE THE PLUNGE THIS WEEKEND

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – It may be cold this Sunday, but that will not stop the Blugolds from jumping into the frigid waters of Carson Park’s Half Moon Lake for a cause.

This Sunday is Special Olympics Wisconsin’s Polar Plunge, the organizations largest fundraising effort to benefit Special Olympics athletes. The Polar Plunge started with one event in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1999 and now has 10 events at different locations throughout Wisconsin this year.

Blugold athletes will help make a difference this year by taking the plunge. More than 15 members of the UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer team will jump into the lake this Sunday. The UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball team will also contribute to the cause by sponsoring Jill Prushiek, the Blugold women’s faculty representative, when she takes the plunge.

The Polar Plunge will begin at noon on Sunday. More information can be found at http://www.specialolympicswisconsin.org/plunge_a3.asp.
