SOCCER, VOLLEYBALL REMAIN NATIONALLY RANKED
The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer and women's volleyball teams are both ranked No. 7 in at least one national poll this week. The women's soccer team, which won three games last week to improve to 13-1 on the season, is ranked No. 7 in the most recent Division III NSCAA/addidas national ranking. That is up one position from last week's poll. In the D3Kicks.com poll, the Blugolds climbed from No. 18 to the No. 15 position. The Blugolds hold a game and a half lead in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with two league games remaining, both of which will be on the road. The Blugolds travel to UW-Platteville Saturday for a league match and then face Loras College in a non-conference contest in Dubuque Sunday. The volleyball team, which lost a five-game match to defending national champion UW-Whitewater last Friday, dropped from No. 5 to No. 7 in this week's CSTV/AVCA Division III coaches poll. The Blugolds, who are 19-2 for the season, will face UW-Superior in a conference match Wednesday in Superior and then will have a nine-day hiatus until a weekend WIAC series on the road at UW-Platteville and UW-La Crosse. The Blugolds are in a two-way tie for first in the WIAC with Whitewater and just a half-game ahead of UW-Oshkosh. The Titans, whom the Blugolds beat 3-0 earlier in the season, jumped ahead of the Blugolds into the No. 6 spot in this week's national poll. Whitewater moved up from No. 16 to No. 13.
