RUNNERS RECOGNIZED FOR CLASSROOM EXCELLENCE

Four individual athletes and both UW-Eau Claire cross country teams have been recognized by the US Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association for classroom excellence.

The Blugold men’s and women’s cross country teams were both honored for having team grade point averages above 3.10. The men were at 3.17 and the women at 3.36. A total of 86 men’s teams and 112 women’s teams were recognized nationally.

Additionally, four Blugold runners were named to the All-Academic team. To qualify, a runner had to be part of the institution’s seven-person regional team with a GPA of 3.5 or better.

The Blugold honorees include sophomore Kevin Hall (Green Bay/Preble), sophomore Beth Lutz (Eau Claire/Memorial), sophomore Ellie Lutz (Eau Claire/Memorial) and senior Christina Locke (Racine/Horlick).

The coaches association selected 108 men and 185 women to the All-Academic teams.

The Blugold women were second in the conference, fourth in the region and 12th at nationals while the Blugold men were sixth in the conference and 13th in the region.
