LONEY, KUZMA AND GEISSLER NAMED WIAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON - UW-Eau Claire women's golfer Maggie Loney (Sr.-River Falls) and the women's tennis doubles team of Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo, MN) and Laura Geissler (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN) were named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, it was announced today by conference sports information director Matt Stanek.

Loney set a course record by shooting a final round 66 to win medalist honors at the UW-Whitewater Invitational held September 24-25 at Prairie Woods Golf Course in Avalon, Wis. She broke the previous course record by seven strokes. Loney began the day tied for sixth place after shooting a 78 on the first day of competition. At the Carthage Invitational on September 23, Loney tied for seventh place with a final score of 83. The Blugolds placed third at both invitationals.

Kuzma and Geissler went 3-2 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) held September 23-25. The duo lost their final match in a tie-breaker 9-8 (9-7), making them the consolation runner-up for the tournament.
