GYMNASTICS PLACES SIXTH AT GERSHON/McLELLAN INVITATIONAL

LA CROSSE – The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team finished sixth with a team score of 172.950 at the six-team Gershon/McLellan Invitational hosted here tonight at Mitchell Hall.

Division I Southeast Missouri State won the event with a score of 190.850 followed by UW-La Crosse with 182.050 points. UW-Oshkosh finished third with 177.925 points followed by Winona State (MN) at 177.350, UW-Stout at 176.425 and UW-Eau Claire with 172.950.

Anna Sutherland (So.-Arden Hills, MN/Roseville) was the top Blugold finisher in two of four events in addition to the all-around. Sutherland finished 11th in the all-around with a four-event score of 34.800, 11th in the vault with a 9.300 and 14th on the beam with a 9.150.

Brittany Adams (Jr.-Maple Grove, MN) earned the highest individual finish by any Blugold on the evening tying for seventh place with a 9.150 on the uneven bars. Ashley Brett (Sr.-Forest Lake, MN) took top team honors on the floor placing 13th scoring a 9.300.

The Blugolds will travel to UW-Whitewater on Friday, February 9 to face the Warhawks in a dual meet. Action is set to begin at 7:00 P.M.
