GYMNASTICS READY FOR WIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS, NCGA REGIONALS
EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team will compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship and the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional Friday night in Oshkosh. The teams participating along with the Blugolds will be UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, UW-Whitewater, Gustavus Adolphus College, Hamline University and Winona State University. The Blugolds have finished second in the last three WIAC championships and have yet to win a conference championship in its history. The team was narrowly defeated last year by defending nine-time conference champion UW-La Crosse. The Blugolds are second highest ranked team in the field with an average team score this season of 178.125 which is seventh best in Division III. The Blugolds have defeated both UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stout this season in dual meets. Lynn Morris (Sr.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) will be a factor for the Blugolds. This season Morris has finished in first in the all-around at six different meets this season. Morris is currently ranked fourth in Division III in average all-around score this season. Morris has a conference-high score of 9.725 in the balance beam that she accomplished earlier this season at the Texas Women's University Quadrangular Theresa Lynch (So.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear) has also been effective for the Blugolds this season. Lynch has finished second in the all-around in each of the last three meets. She has three first place finishes in the floor exercise this season. UW-La Crosse will look for its 10th straight conference title. The Eagles are the five-time defending NCGA national champions and are ranked second in Division III in average team score this season. The Eagles have individuals ranked No.1 in the uneven parallel bars and the balance beam. The action gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday night at Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh. Tournament Web Site - JR -
