GYMNASTS SET DECEMBER HIGH SCORE AGAINST HAMLINE

ST. PAUL, MN - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team set a new school record for the highest score in a December event as they topped Hamline 171.075 to 165.775 here tonight in the Blugold's season opener at the Walker Fieldhouse.

The score of 171.075 is the seventh highest score posted in Eau Claire's school history. The Blugold's record improves to 1-0 with the victory while Hamline falls to 0-1 on the season.

Alison Eagles (So-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) led the way for the Blugolds as she finished first or second in every event and was the top all-around performer for the event. Eagles finished first in the vault with a score of 9.275, placing her in a tie for the fifth best score in school history. Eagles already co-holds the school record with a score of 9.400 in the event. She also finished second in the bars, beam, and floor events en route to finishing with the highest all-around score of 35.625.

Lynn Morris (Fr-Monticell, IN/Twin Lakes) had an impressive debut as she finished with the second highest all-around score on the evening with a 34.875. Morris finished first in the bars with a score of 8.85 as well as placing first on the beam with a score of 9.125. Her score on the balance beam is the fourth highest score in school history.

The Blugolds will take a holiday break and resume action January 10th when they will travel to UW-Whitewater. The event is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
