The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team set the school record with a final score of 180.500 in finishing in fifth place at the 2003 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Gymnastics Championships held here tonight at the McPhee Phy. Ed. Center.
Lynn Morris (Fr.-Monticell, IN/Twin Lakes) was the catalyst for the Blugolds in setting the school record in the balance beam. Morris placed first among all competitors with her score of 9.525 which eclipsed the previous school record of 9.475 also held by Morris.
The Blugolds used Morris's fourth place score of 9.225 in the uneven bars to set the school record in the event. Eau Claire finished the event with a final of 44.325 to pass the earlier record of 43.175.
Eau Claire continued their record-setting ways with the highest floor exercise score in school history. The Blugolds got a solid all-around effort from everyone participating in the event to finish the event with a score of 46.475 which surpassed the previous record of 46.450.
