GYMNASTICS CONTINUE RECORD BREAKING WAYS
EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team finished in second place out of four teams while breaking three school records in an invite which contained sixth ranked Gustavus Adolphus here tonight at the McPhee Physical Education Center.
The Blugolds finished with a team score of 176.950, eclipsing the record for highest team score of 176.025 set last Friday in a dual meet with UW-Oshkosh.
Eau Claire also broke the school record for highest team score in the balance beam competition as it scored 45.350, passing the mark of 44.625, a record that has stood for over two years. Lynn Morris (Fr-Monticell, IN/Twin Lakes) led the Blugolds in the record setting performance with a balance beam score of 9.450, which breaks teammates Alison Eagles' (So-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) record. The score was good enough for third place in the event. Morris also finished second in the uneven bars event with a score of 9.050.
Kristina Reitzel (Jr-Oakdale, MN/Hill-Murray) led the Blugolds in the all around category with a score of 35.175.
Eagles got the Blugolds only first place performance on the evening as she won the vault with a score of 9.250 before being injured on the balance beam and being unable to compete in the floor exercise.
Jessica Pink (Sr-Monticello, MN) finished in third place in the floor exercise for the Blugolds with a score of 9.200.
The Blugolds resume action next Friday at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet held in Oshkosh. The event is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
