GYMNASTICS UPDATE FROM SATURDAY'S ALOHA INVITE

EAU CLAIRE - An error was found in the computerized score sheet from last weekend's Eau Claire Aloha Invitational hosted by the UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team. The error lowered the Blugold's score more than it should have. As a result, the record setting performance by the gymnastics team on Saturday is actually higher than reported.

According to the unsigned computerized score sheet, the Blugolds finished with a score of 175.875, which broke the old school record for highest team score. After reviewing the scores, an error was found in Leah Ittner's (Fr-Minneapolis, MN/South) final score. Fixing the error improved the Blugold's final score to 176.025.

At the conclusion of the Aloha Invitational, the Blugolds finished in second place ahead of UW-La Crosse. The Falcons are the defending NCGA national champions. The Blugolds defeat of La Crosse is the first time a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has topped the Falcons since 1998 when Oshkosh outscored La Crosse at the NCGA regional meet.

The Blugold gymnasts are next in action this Saturday when they will travel to Winona, Minnesota to compete in the Jefferson Invitational hosted by Winona State. Some of the top teams in the country will be competing at the invite including Gustavus, who was the only team with a higher score than the Blugolds at the Aloha Invite.
