GYMNASTS HAVE RECORD SETTING DAY IN EAU CLAIRE

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team broke three individual school records as well as the all around team score record en route to a second place finish out of five teams at the Eau Claire Aloha Invite here today at the McPhee Physical Education Center.

The Blugolds finished with a score of 175.875, breaking the school record set last March in the conference meet held in River Falls. Gustavus Adolphus was the only team with a higher score at 177.175. Eau Claire finished with a higher score than defending NCGA National Champion UW-La Crosse who finished in third place with a score of 175.500.

Alison Eagles (So-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) finished second in the all-around with a score of 36.225. Her score in the all-around sets a new school record previously held by Blugold teammate Kristina Reitzel (Jr-Oakdale, MN/Hill-Murray). Eagles also set a new school record in the beam with a 9.425 as she took second place in the competition. She also took second in the vault as well as finishing third on the floor exercise.

Eagles was not the only one breaking school records as Lynn Morris (Fr-Monticell, IN/Twin Lakes) posted a score of 9.075 in the uneven bars breaking the previous record of 8.925. The score was good for third place in the competition.

Kristina Retizel finished the all-around competition in fourth place for the Blugolds.

Eau Claire will next be in action Friday as they travel to Winona, Minnesota to battle Winona State.
