BIELMEIER NAMED SECOND TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – UW-Eau Claire football safety Paul Bielmeier (Jr.-Edgar, Wis.) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 5 Football Second Team College Division, it was announced today. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his career and have at least a sophomore standing. This is the first time Bielmeier has received the award and only eight other Blugold football players have made it to the list since 2002. Bielmeier is a kinesiology major and has accumulated a 3.97 grade point average to this point. In Bielmeier’s three seasons with the Blugolds, he has played in all but one game. This season he has made some important contributions on the defensive side of the ball. In nine games so far, Bielmeier has been credited with 16 tackles (four solo, 12 assists), a half sack, a fumble recovery and an interception. Bielmeier was also recognized as the team’s Special Teams Newcomer of the Year his freshman season in 2005. - KM -
