2007 FOOTBALL ONE OF THE MOST IMPROVED TEAMS IN THE NATION

CAMARILLO, Calif. – The 2007 UW-Eau Claire football team is one of the most improved college football teams in the nation, according to a rating system by Somissports.com.

The system comes up with ratings, which roughly equates to the team’s net points (points scored minus points against), and then compares the team’s final 2007 rating with its 2006 rating to come up with a list of most improved teams in college football.

Eau Claire ended up as the sixth most improved team in NCAA Division III and the 13th most improved team in all of college football. Last year the Blugolds had a 3-7 overall record and gave up 193 points, while only scoring 163. This season Eau Claire scored 279 points, giving up 228, and ended the season with 9-3 record.

The Blugolds were given a rating of 21.46, close to their net point improvement of 21 points. The team’s improvement of six games between 2006 and 2007 was also one of the largest changes in the country. Only two other teams in all of college football had an improvement of seven wins, and the six win improvement was tied for the most in Division III.
