MADISON– The UW-Eau Claire football team had six players selected to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic (WIAC) All-Conference teams, it was announced by conference sports information director Matt Stanek.

EVENSEN NAMED FIRST TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

EAU CLAIRE – UW-Eau Claire football wide receiver Matt Evensen (Sr.-Junction City/Auburndale) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 5 Football Team College Division, it was recently announced.

PLATTEVILLE – The UW-Eau Claire football team ended its season on a high note today with a 21-7 victory over UW-Platteville at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

Saturday’s regular season finale between Eau Claire and Platteville is the 45th meeting all-time between the two teams. The Blugolds have a record of 18-25-1 against the Pioneers. The Blugolds have won nine of the last 10 meetings against the Pioneers.

EAU CLAIRE – For the second consecutive week the UW-Eau Claire football team could not hold on to a late fourth quarter lead as UW-Oshkosh scored with under four minutes to play to defeat the Blugolds 25-21 today on Senior Day at Carson Park.

FOOTBALL PREVIEW: OSHKOSH VS. EAU CLAIRE

Saturday’s matchup between Eau Claire and Oshkosh is the 49th meeting between the two teams all-time. The Blugolds own a 38-20 advantage in the series and have won eight of the last ten meetings. However, the Titans snapped a five-game losing streak last year with a 24-18 overtime win at Titan Stadium.

POINTERS RALLY TO DEFEAT FOOTBALL IN OVERTIME

EAU CLAIRE - UW-Stevens Point scored 14 unanswered points in the second half and then made a 35-yard field goal in overtime to defeat UW-Eau Claire 20-17 today at Carson Park.

EVENSEN AMONG SEMIFINALISTS NAMED FOR THE 2006 DRADDY TROPHY

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – UW-Eau Claire senior wide receiver Matt Evensen (Sr.-Junction City, WI/Auburndale) is among 148 semifinalists for the 2006 Draddy Trophy, it was announced recently by the National Football Foundation (NFF) and the College Hall of Fame.

LA CROSSE – The No. 10 ranked UW-La Crosse team had its best all-around offensive game of the year while the UW-Eau Claire football team was unable to answer 21 second-half Eagle points in a 42-14 loss.

The Eagles own a huge advantage in the series, posting a 50-21-2 record agains the Blugolds, dating back to 1930. ALMA, MI - The UW-Eau Claire football team never trailed until the first series of overtime when Alma quarterback Josh Brehm ran it in for the winning score as the Alma (MI) Scots defeated the Blugolds 33-30 in overtime today at Bahlke Field.

COLLEGEVILLE, MN – The UW-Eau Claire football team kept fourth-ranked St. John’s within reach due to some empty Johnnie drives but Eau Claire could not muster up enough offense as the team fell 15-11 to begin the season.

The two teams have met nine times with the Johnnies slightly holding the upper hand winning five of those meetings. The Johnnies have won two of the last three times, including last year’s 35-28 victory at Carson Park.

EAGLE RIVER - A UW-Eau Claire football player died at his home here Sunday morning. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
