CROW, FERGUSON NAMED TO ALL-WEST REGION TEAM
OSHKOSH - Linebacker Austin Crow (Sr.-Woodbury) and wide receiver Erik Ferguson (Sr.-Rochester, MN/Dover-Eyota) have been named to the 2003 Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-West Region team, it was announced recently.
Crow and Ferguson led the Blugolds to a 5-5 overall record and a 4-3 record in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, including a 24-21 victory over UW-La Crosse, who was ranked third in the nation coming into the contest.
Crow was named to the All-West Region first team defense for the first time after earning second team defensive honors in 2001. Crow was an All-WIAC first team member in 2003 for the second time and the third All-Conference honors overall. He has earned four letters and has played in 35 of a possible 40 games as a Blugold. A unanimous pick for All-Conference honors, Crow finished third in the conference in tackles with 94 and quarterback sacks with six, while placing eighth in tackles for loss with 11.
Crow has received several honors in 2003, including being named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Max Sparger Co-Scholar-Athlete as well as being a Verizon Academic All-District V College Football third team member.
Ferguson was named to the 2003 All-West Region third team offense, earning his first All-Region honors. The senior wide receiver had a record setting season in 2003, breaking school records for receptions in a season (60) and receiving yards in a season (1,157). He became the first Blugold ever to record 1,000 receiving yards in a season and posted the eighth highest single season receiving yardage in WIAC history.
Ferguson is a two-time letterwinner at Eau Claire and was named an All-Conference second team member in 2003. He led the WIAC in receiving yards and receiving yards per game (115.7) while finishing fourth with 60 receptions.
