WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD READY FOR NATIONALS

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team is ready to compete in four events at the 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this Friday and Saturday in Ada, Ohio.

The Blugolds will participate in the weight throw, distance medley relay, 4x400 meter relay and the 400 meter dash.

Liz Kooistra (Jr.-Lakeville, Minn.) will compete in the most events this weekend, running in all the track events. She will run in the 400 meter dash at about 3:25 p.m. on Saturday. Kooistra led the conference in the 400 meter dash this season with a time of 0:56.96, accomplished on February 9 at Stevens Point’s Eastbay Invite. The time is also the sixth best in NCAA Division III this year. Kooistra will also be a part of the distance medley and 4x400 meter relay teams.

Other Blugolds in the distance medley relay will be Laura Broner (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial), Hannah Humbach (So.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) and Mary Palmer (Jr.-Anoka, Minn.). Corrina Saager (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Maria Peloquin (Fr.-Prescott, Wis.), in addition to Broner and Kooistra will compete in the 4x400 meter relay. The distance medley relay will take place on Friday at about 7:20 p.m., while the 4x400 will be the last event of the championships, at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

Amy Morse (Jr.-Kaukauna, Wis.) will also compete in the weight throw at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. She was selected for the championships after taking first place in the event at the WIAC Championships with a throw of 54-5 ¼.
