WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD SITS IN FOURTH
SUPERIOR, Wis. – After day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships, the UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team is in fourth place at 32.83 points. The leader is UW-La Crosse at 75.33 points while the runner-up is UW-River Falls at 39. Ahead of Eau Claire is UW-Oshkosh’s 37.50. Directly behind the Blugolds are UW-Stout’s 23.33. Eau Claire did quite well on the track. Molly Warner (Sr.-Mosinee) had an 18:16.43 race in the 5000-meter race, good for second. Elly Prunty (So.-Antigo) was fourth at 18:24.75 and Amber Hertz (Sr.-Baraboo) was eighth at 18:53.22. The distance medley squad took fourth on a 12:45.02 mark. In the field events, Alicia Schuelke (Jr.-Gilman) finished third in the high jump at 1.57 meters (5’ 1 ¾”). Bridget Wolfe and her 1.47-meter (4’ 9 ¾”) jump tied for eighth. Hayley Suckow (So.-Elk Mound) took third in the pole vault on a 3.42-meter (11’ 2 ½”) showing while Ewa Warnquist (Jr.-Vaxjo, Sweden/Af Chapman) was seventh on a 3.27 meter (10’ 8 ¾”) showing. The final day of the championship starts at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
