WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD FINISHES IN SECOND AT POINT INVITE
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team competed at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational, taking second out of 11 teams here today. UW-Oshkosh won the event, scoring 177.50. Eau Claire finished with 97 points for their second place finish, while the Pointers took third with 88 points. Platteville scored 72 points for a fourth place finish, and Carroll College took fifth with 70 points. The Blugolds only had one first place finisher today. Molly Warner (Sr.-Mosinee, Wis.) won the one mile run with a time of 5:16.82. She finished just under two seconds ahead of the next closest finisher, Ashley Woest from UW-Stevens Point. Three other Blugolds took home second place finishes at the invite. Amy Bachinski (So.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) finished with a time of 7.41 in the 55-meter dash for a second place spot. Hannah Humbach (So.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) also took second today in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:17.46. In the triple jump, Amy Oldenburg (So.-Minocqua, WI/Lakeland Union) finished in second place with a 10.83-meter (35’ 6 ˝’’) jump. The Blugolds also grabbed five third place finishes. Laura Broner (Jr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial) took third in the 400-meter dash finishing with a time of 59.82, less than two seconds out of first place. Julie Meis (Jr.-Platteville, Wis.) ran a time of 19:58.16 in the 5,000-yard run for a third place finish. In the 55-meter hurdles, Liz Amici (Fr.-Whitewater, Wis.) ran a time of 8.93. In the field events, Alicia Schuelke (Jr.-Gilman, Wis.) took third with a 1.55-meter (5’ 1’’) jump in the high jump, while Amy Morse (Jr.-Kaukauna, Wis.) threw 15.53 meters (50’ 11˝ ‘’) in the weight throw, an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying score. Next weekend the Blugolds will head to Superior for the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The meet is set for Friday at noon and will conclude on Saturday starting a 9 a.m. Results - KM -
