WOMEN'S TRACK STARTS SEASON WITH BADGER CLASSIC
MADISON, Wisc. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team started the 2008 indoor season today with the Badger Track Classic, hosted by UW-Madison. In the 200-meter dash Briana Berg finished eighth, running a 28.63. Courtney Craig also ran in the finals of the 200-meter dash. Craig placed ninth while running a 29.72. Laura Broner finished fourth in the 400-meter dash. Broner ran a 1:00.85 in finals. Alyssa Reindl also finished 11th in the 400, running a 1:07.79.The Blugolds were the only runners in the 600-meter dash. Maria Peloquin ran a 1:46.29 and Julie Stieber ran a 1:52.38. Hannah Humbach finished in eighth place of the 3000-meter run. Humbach, who also ran cross country, finished with a 10:46.65. In the high jump, the Blugolds had two finalists. Jessica Owens finished in fifth place with a 1.59 meter jump. Alicia Schuelke tied for seventh with two others with a 1.55 meter jump. The Blugolds had four long jumpers in the finals. Briana Berg finished in fifth place with a jump of 5.05 meters. Tonya White ended up in sixth place with a 5.01 meter jump. Amy Bachinski jumped 4.66 meters on way to a 12th place finish. The last finalist in the long jump was Courtney Craig. Craig jumped 4.5 meters to earn 14th place. Amy Morse finished seventh in the weight throw. Morse threw 14.21 meters. Next up for the Blugolds is the Blugold Open on Friday, January 18. The event will start at 4 p.m. on the Ade Olson track. Results -SB-
