TAMM NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - UW-Eau Claire women's track and field thrower Laura Tamm (Sr.-Brillion) was named to the 2004 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District V Women's At-Large Team, it was announced today by district coordinator Don Stoner of Augsburg College.
Carrying a 3.81 grade-point average majoring in biology, Tamm recently competed in the discus at the 2004 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. At the 2004 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships Tamm finished fourth in the discus throwing 139-4 and seventh in the javelin covering 107-5. Tamm was the top Blugold performer in both the discus (141-2) and javelin (107-5) in 2004.
A four-time letterwinner in basketball, Tamm was a member of the 2002-03 Blugold team that finished 32-2 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four. Tamm received both the Blugold and Captain's Award in 2003-04 in addition to being named team Rookie of the Year in 2000-01.
Outside of athletics, Tamm was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Biology Club, Student Senate and Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). Tamm was also involved with the Blugold Buddies, a youth girls' basketball program conducted by the UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team. Tamm is also a four-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
