WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYS STRONG, DEFEATS OSHKOSH

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s tennis team defeated their second conference opponent of the season with a 9-0 win over UW-Oshkosh Saturday.

In doubles, Gina Dahl (So.-Fort Atkinson) and Sarah Riordan (Sr.-Appleton/North) got an 8-1 victory in the No. 1 flight. The No. 2 flight of Kristie Carlson (Sr.-Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View) and Brenna McCormick (So.-Greendale) won by a score of 8-2 as well. The No. 3 duo of Liz Deprey (Sr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame) and Erin Welch (So.-Tomah, WI) also defeated their opponents with a score of 8-3.

The Blugolds played very well in singles play, not losing a single match. In the No. 1 flight, Riordan beat her opponent with score of 6-2 and 6-0. Dahl also won with scores of 6-3 and 6-2 in the No. 2 flight. Carlson did not give up a point today, defeating her opponent 6-0 and 6-0. McCormick also played well, winning with scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Welch lost her first set 3-6 in the No. 5 flight, but rebounded with scores of 6-1 and 10-7 to take the match. Deprey played in the No. 6 flight and also won with scores of 6-3 and 6-1.
