WOMEN'S TENNIS TO HOST UW-LA CROSSE SATURDAY

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team will try to improve their conference record to 2-0 this Saturday, as they will host UW-La Crosse.

The Blugolds are coming off a decent showing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Tournament, which had the doubles team of Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo, MN) and Laura Geissler (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN) make it all the way to the championship match in the consolation bracket. In the Blugolds last dual match, they defeated conference rival UW-Stout 7-2. The Blugolds have a current record of 6-4 this season.

Of the eight players that have competed in singles this season, seven have a record of .500 or above. The lone senior on the team, Kuzma, has a record of 5-4 this season at No.1 singles. The doubles teams for the Blugolds have been just as impressive with a combined record of 22-12 in matches this season.

The Eagles have had a strong start to the season. They swept Beloit College in their opening match and then took the overall championship at the Warhawk Invitational in Whitewater.

The Blugolds fell to the Eagles in their previous match last season 6-3.

The action gets underway at 9 a.m. this Saturday at the Simpson Courts.
