Jesse Plote enters his first season as the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach for the Blugolds. Plote will assist with practice and on-court coaching, recruiting and team travel.
Prior to Eau Claire Plote was an assistant men’s tennis coach at Division I Creighton (NE) University. In January 2003 Plote became a coach at the Van Der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina where he coached top-ranked world class junior tennis players. Plote became USPTR certified while coaching at the academy.
Plote competed for two season at Creighton where he was a team captain his senior year. His senior year Plote helped the Blue Jays finish in the top half of the Missouri Valley Conference. Plote earned team Most Inspirational and Most Improved his senior season.
Plote began his collegiate career at Vincennes University, a junior college in Vincennes, Indiana. As a freshman Plote earned All-American honors at #5 singles and #2 doubles while Trailblazers finished third nationally. During his sophomore campaign Plote won the ITA Rolex in doubles play and was a finalist at the #2 singles at the national championships. That season the Trailblazers finished fourth nationally.
In high school Plote competed at Red Wing high school where he was coached by current UW-Eau Claire head tennis coach Tom Gillman. At Red Wing Plote helped lead the Wingers to the state finals his senior season. Plote was half of a doubles tandem that finished third in the state championships.
Plote received his bachelor’s degree from Creighton in marketing.
