HOVER TAKES HOME SINGLES CROWN AT YMCA TOURNAMENT

Alison Hover (Sr.-St. Cloud, MN/Tech) took home first place in both the singles and doubles competition at the YMCA Tournament held this weekend.

In singles action Hover defeated three Blugold teammates en route to her first place finish. After a bye in the first round Hover defeated Annie Krueger (Fr.-Reedsburg) 6-0, 6-1. She followed that up with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Megan Tauer (Sr.-Stillwater, MN) to set up a final with Jenny Stafford (Jr.-Cross Plains/Middleton). In the finals Hover was victorious 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

In the doubles competition Hover paired up with Stafford in taking first place. After a first round bye Hover and Stafford defeated Siena and Tessa Lang of Chippewa Falls 6-0, 6-0. In the next round the tandem defeated teammates Krueger and Katie Steffes (Fr.-St. Joseph, MN/Apollo) 6-1, 6-2. In the finals Hover and Stafford defeated Tauer and Molly Cadwell (Jr.-Fridley, MN) 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

The Blugolds will travel down to St. Louis, Missouri to take on Washington University and Wittenburg College Friday and Saturday.
