WRESTLING ROLLS AGAINST LAWRENCE
APPLETON, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team lost just one match today while winning 42-4 over Lawrence University. There were two pins. Joey Miller (Sr.-Lake Tomahawk) took down his opponent in 2:29 in the 174-pound weight class and 184-pound Ted Sikowski (Sr.-Appleton/West) brought his man to the mat in 1:07. At 133 pounds, Greg Sonnentag (Fr.-Cadott) won his match 13-6 while Andy Johnston (So.-St. Cloud, MN/St. Cloud Tech HS) prevailed 9-5 in the 149-pound class. Jon Ames (So.-Genoa/Viroqua) squeaked by his 157-pound opponent 4-3 and Nick Hoeft (Sr.-Merrill) won at 285 pounds on a 5-2 score. There were three wins by forfeit tonight. Brandon Page (Jr.-Holmen) (125 pounds), Andy Miller (Jr.-Appleton/North) (141 pounds) and Josh Holforty (Jr.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) (197 pounds) took those wins. The Blugolds are off until 2008, with their next event occurring on Jan. 4-5 in the Cornell Invitational.
