WRESTLING SET TO HOST SECOND-RANKED UW-LA CROSSE
EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team will host second-ranked UW-La Crosse this Wednesday night in the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugolds have an overall dual meet record of 1-5 this season and a WIAC dual meet record of 0-1, following a 24-17 loss to UW-Whitewater Friday night. The second-ranked Eagles come in with an overall dual meet record of 1-1 and a WIAC record of 1-0. Leading the way for the Blugolds is Joey Miller (So.-Lake Tomahawk, WI/Lakeland Union) at 184 pounds. Joey Miller so far this season is 7-2 with three pins on the year. Nick Hoeft (So.-Merrill, WI) at heavyweight is 6-3 this season with one victory coming by pinfall. Derek Sikora (Sr.-Neillsville, WI) at 165 pounds was victorious in his first match of the season Friday night and is a big addition to the team. Sikora is currently ranked second in Division III in his weight class. The Eagles come in with five wrestlers ranked in the top four in Division III. The Eagles finished fourth out of 60 teams in last year's NCAA Division III tournament. The action gets underway Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in the McPhee Physical Education Center. - JR -
