THREE RECEIVE ALL-NCHA WOMEN’S HOCKEY HONORS
MENOMONIE, Wis. – After completing its season with a fourth place finish in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA), the UW-Eau Claire women’s hockey team was honored with three selections to the conference’s All-NCHA Team, conference spokesman Layne Pitt announced today. Leading the Blugolds with a first team nomination was Michelle Stohr (So.-South St. Paul, Minn.). Stohr was the only Blugold to receive first team honors as a defenseman this year. She was fifth on the team in total points, accumulating 11 with six goals and five assists. She also led the team with four power-play goals. Last season Stohr also appeared on the All-NCHA team as an honorable mention selection. Two others were named to the honorable mention list for the first time in their collegiate careers. Kristin Faber (Fr.-Austin, Minn.), who led the Blugolds in scoring, made it as a forward. She had 22 points and led the Blugolds with 13 goals and was tied for second on the team with nine assists. Katie Lawler (Fr.-Cottage Grove, Minn./Hill-Murray) was the other Blugold to make the honorable mention team as a defenseman. Lawler scored one power-play goal and tabulated five assists in her first year on the team. This year UW-Superior’s Gina Baranzelli was named the NCHA’s player of the year. Katy Lankey of UW-Stevens Point received honors as the scholar-athlete. UW-Superior’s head coach Dan Laughlin was also named coach of the year. All-NCHA Teams - KM -
