WOMEN’S HOCKEY ANNOUNCES TEAM AWARD WINNERS
EAU CLAIRE – UW-Eau Claire women’s hockey coach Mike Collins recently announced the team award winners for the 2006-07 season at their team banquet. Defenseman Allie Campbell (Sr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) and forward Amber Stevenson (Sr.-Eagan, MN) were named the team’s Student-Athlete award winners. Both Campbell and Stevenson were named to the 20-person Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) All-Academic Team this past season. Stevenson earned All-Academic honors for the third consecutive season and Campbell received similar honors for the second consecutive season. Forward Martina Korinek (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN) was honored with the Blugold Award. This award represents the top all-around team player and is voted upon by the team. Korinek earned honorable mention All-NCHA honors in addition to being named to the NCHA All-Academic Team for the second straight year. The Blugolds finished the season with an overall record of 13-10-2 record and a 6-7-2 count in conference play. The six NCHA wins set a school record for most conference wins in a season. The 2006-07 team accomplished the second winning season in school history as both seasons have been achieved within the last three years. This season also marked the third time Eau Claire has earned double-digit wins in the last four seasons.
