WOMEN'S HOCKEY HOME OPENER THIS WEEKEND

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will have their first home games of the season when they face St. Olaf College on Friday and Saturday at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Blugolds are 1-1-0 so far in the year. They defeated Bethel College in their first game 2-1. This past Saturday they lost 1-5 to St. Mary's to make it 1-1-0.

Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) and Martina Korinek (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) are the early points leaders with two each. Havard has two goals while Korinek has two assists.

Jill Arendt (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) has had 24 saves and an .800 save percentage. She is allowing an average of 3.00 goals a game.

The Oles have only played one game and they got shut out in it. The score went 0-6 in favor of UW-Stevens Point. The goalie, Shannon Herrick, made 23 saves and holds a .793 save percentage.

St. Olaf went 15-9-1 last year, which was the best season the team has had since its beginning in the 2000-01 season. Eau Claire is 8-3-1 against the Oles, historically. The last time these two met was last November on the fifth and the sixth. Both scores were 3-1. St. Olaf took the first and the Blugolds took the second.

Both games will at 7:00 p.m. this Friday and Saturday. Saturday night's game is also Parents Night.
