WOMEN'S HOCKEY TOPPED BY RIVER FALLS
EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team allowed four first period goals en route to a 7-2 loss to UW-River Falls here tonight at Hobbs Ice Arena.
The Blugolds fall to 2-5-2 with the loss and 0-4-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association action while the Falcons improve to 7-4-0 for the season and 4-2-0 in NCHA play.
Neither team was able to get on the board early but in the final 8:39 of the first period the Falcons tallied four goals and never looked back.
Midway through the second period the Blugolds got on the board when Tara Hayner (Fr.-Stillwater, MN) scored to make the deficit 4-1.
River Falls added a goal in the second and another early in the third before Amber Stevenson (Fr.-Eagan, MN) scored the Blugolds second and final goal of the night. The goal was Stevenson's first collegiate goal.
The Falcons added another goal in the third to take the game 7-2.
The Blugolds resume action next Friday when they will travel to Stevens Point to battle the Pointers for a 7:05 p.m. start.
