WOMEN'S HOCKEY HOSTS SUPERIOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will host Northern Collegiate Hockey Association co-leader UW-Superior this Friday and Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena.

Both games between the Blugolds and Yellowjackets will take place at 7:05 p.m.

The Blugolds come in with a record of 2-1-1 on the season with wins coming against St. Olaf and Bethel. Superior comes in unbeaten, with a record of 5-0-1, but its only tie came against the Oles.

Amanda Schultz (So.-Stevens Point/SPASH) leads the Blugold offense as she has five points on two goals and three assists in four games this season.

Tara Berlute (Jr.-Bloominton, MN/Holy Angels) comes in with a record of 1-1-1 at goalie while Sara Steinhoff (So.-West St. Paul, MN/Henry Sibley) is 1-0-0. Berlute has played 185 minutes in net, allowing just six goals and making 65 saves.

The Blugolds have posted just a 1-12 record against the Yellowjackets in their brief existence, with the lone win coming last January when Eau Claire won by a score of 4-3.

There will be special promotions for this weekends games. On Friday the Eau Claire women's rugby club team will battle the Eau Claire swimming and diving teams in a fun game of broomball. Each team will be equipped with helmets and brooms and will compete in between both periods of the women's game. There will be prizes for the winning team.

Saturday will be youth night at Hobbs Ice Arena where any two youths, ages 5-17, will get in free with one paid adult. There will be a balloon race and a chuck-a-puck contest for activities. There will also be an autograph signing session after the game with the players.
