WOMEN'S HOCKEY STAYS HOT, POUNDS ST. KATE'S

RIVER FALLS - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team dropped just its second game since December 13 as the Blugolds fell to Northern Collegiate Hockey Association rival UW-River Falls 4-1 here tonight at Hunt Arena.

The Blugolds drop to 7-9-2 overall and 2-7-0 in NCHA action while the Falcons improve to 10-8-1 for the season and 6-4-1 in conference play.

Kelly Hurley got the scoring started for the Falcons at the 6:37 mark of the first period with an even strength goal to put the Blugolds in an early hole. The Falcons' Nicole Magnuson made it a two goal game six minutes later with a goal of her own.

Connie Cameron (Sr.-Chippewa Falls) put the Blugolds on the board 5:59 into the second period to cut the deficit to one goal. Amanda Schultz (So.-Stevens Point/SPASH) and Christa Hubert (Jr.-Blaine, MN) earned the assists on the goal.

The goal was the only one the Blugolds got past Falcon goalie Amber Lindner and River Falls added a pair of goals to round out the scoring at 4-1.

Sara Steinhoff (So.-West St. Paul, MN/Henry Sibley) played all 60 minutes in goal, stopping 30 of the 34 shots she faced.

The Blugolds will look to avenge the loss tomorrow night when they again battle River Falls at Hunt Arena. Face off is set for 7:05 p.m.
