WOMEN’S GOLF QUALIFIES FOR NCAA NATIONALS
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team will make its eighth straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships, NCAA officials announced today. Eau Claire and 19 other institutions were selected to participate at nationals. In addition, 11 individuals were also chosen to compete. The championships will be conducted May 13-16 at the Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa. Warburg College will serve as host. The four-day tournament will consist of 72 holes being played. Upon completion of the championship, a team and individual national champion will be crowned. Under head coach John Means, who is in his third season, the Blugolds finished fifth in 2006 and seventh in 2007 in the tournament. Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, Wis.) has the Blugolds’ highest finisher last season, tying for 21st place with 328 strokes, and will look to improve her individual spot this year.
