SCHEELE LEADS EDGEWOOD TO SHOWCASE WIN
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Junior Megan Scheele scored 27 points and grabbed 15 points to lead Edgewood College to a 60-42 triumph over North Park University in the third place game of the Eau Claire Thanksgiving Showcase at the W. L. Zorn Arena here Saturday night. The 5-9 forward hit 12 of 16 shots from the field and all three of her free throws for her game high total as Edgewood improved to 2-2 on the season. Scheele’s shooting from the field, mostly around the basket, allowed Edgewood to convert 53 percent from the field compared to just 29 percent for North Park which remained winless in four starts this season. Edgewood scored the first two points of the game and never relinquished the lead although North Park tied the game at 2 and 6 before Edgewood moved to a 30-22 advantage at the intermission. In the second half, North Park pulled within six early in the period (32-26), but from the 12:06 mark on, Edgewood maintained a double digit lead which peaked at 18 with the final score. Besides its shooting advantage which was aided by a 38-24 edge on points in the paint, Edgewood won the battle of the boards, 36-29. North Park had 21 turnovers while Edgewood had 24 miscues. North Park drained 9 of 10 free throw attempts while Edgewood was 11 of 19 from the foul line. Scheele was the only player to reach double figures for the Eagles. LaRae Kostreva and Crissy Komperda were both in double figures for North Park with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Edgewood-North Park Box Score - TP -
